Spurs host Norwich in FA Cup standoff
Tottenham welcome bottom dwellers Norwich to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday in the FA Cup. Tottenham are coming off the back of a disheartening loss to Wolverhampton whilst Norwich won their first game in a month against none other than Leicester. An interesting game with loads of betting value!
Tottenham
Mourinho will be cursing Tottenhams rotten second half display during Sunday's loss to Wolves despite leading 2-1 at half time due to some really calamitous defending.
One step forward and two steps back
The Lilywhites looked better in the final third than they have done for a while now but to no avail as it was the defence that was an absolute letdown which will have people questioning Mourinho's choice of starting defenders.
Eric Dier slotted in as the central centre back in a back 5 which saw Davison Sanchez and youngling Japhet Tanganga start on either side despite having both Vertonghen and Alderweireld available and on the bench.
Desperate for a turnaround
With the second leg of the Champions League looming and in risk of falling behind in the race for top 4, Tottenham need to rekindle the form they had when Mourinho was first hired and they need to do it quickly.
Luckily for them, Norwich is the perfect opponent to bounce back on, despite their recent victory they are both bad on the road and far inferior regarding squad talent.
Norwich
The Canaries were handed a lifeline on Friday night after a very hard fought victory against high-flying Leicester. Daniel Farke's men could yet secure a contract for next years edition of the Premier League with only 4 points up to safe ground but Wednesday's focus shifts towards advancement in the FA Cup.
Promising start but a long way to go
Norwich have so far seen off the likes of Preston and Burnley which are far from "easy" games but Tottenham are obviously a different beast altogether meaning that the men in yellow will have to bump it up a notch if they are to go the whole way.
More recovery time
A factor that can prove to be decisive is the fact that Norwich will have had 2 days longer rest between games come Wednesday whereas Tottenham played as recently as Sunday afternoon which could prompt a great deal of rotation within the squad.
Fatigue is a giant killer and the importance of rest should not be taken lightly meaning that Norwich definitely have an upper hand in that regard.
Betting tip
Both teams score and concede a lot of goals which is why i will simply be backing Over 2.5 goals at 11/20 with Betway.
