The old Son-Kane connection to spark into life
Tottenham Hotspur and 2021/2022 UEFA Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt both have four points from the opening three Champions League matches this term, and couldn't be separated in a relatively dour goalless draw when the teams met in Germany last week. The hosts got back to winning ways at the weekend with a hard-fought 1-0 triumph over Brighton & Hove Albion, and they'll be hoping to kickstart their quest to qualify for the knockout stages of the premier competition in Europe on Wednesday night. Read our preview here:
A Royal pardon
Emerson Royal's costly red card in the North London derby defeat against Arsenal has kept him suspended in domestic competition since, but that should inadvertently mean he's a certainty to start at right wing-back for Antonio Conte. The visitors will also operate in the same 3-4-2-1 shape, so it should prove to be an intriguing battle all over the pitch and one on his flank that could come with the opportunity for redemption. Elsewhere, Dejan Kulusevski is unlikely to be risked whilst he continues to recover from his knock, which gives Richarlison another chance to strut his stuff for the cameras.
My neighbour the Kamada
Oliver Glasner's men slipped to a morale-sapping 3-0 loss away at Bochum in the Bundesliga at the weekend which saw them drop down to eighth in the standings. His main dilemma in the English capital is just how much to attack, given Conte's cautious counter-punch approach. French striker Randal Kolo Muani missed that heavy setback through a suspension of his own, but should lead the line with the support in particular of Daichi Kamada. The Japanese mainstay is enjoying another fruitful season ahead of his certain selection for the national team at next month's World Cup, hitting four goals and grabbing two assists in the division. A similarly impactful showing here would only highlight his credentials more with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season.
