Can Energetik-BGU maintain their 100% record?

The league leaders Energetik-BGU look to continue their 100% record this season in a trip to Torpedo Zhodino this Saturday. Torpedo are sat in fifth place and were on the record their third consecutive win in the Belarusian Premier League, yet they were somewhat unexpectedly defeated by two goals to nil at the hands of 14th placed Dinamo Minsk. Zhodino are despite the league standings favourites with the bookies to win this, although they have not tasted victory against Energetik-BGU since 2013.

Last time out

Off the back of two 1-0 victories Zhodino recorded a disappointing 2-0 defeat in their last match. Conceding two first half strikes only managing two shots on target across the 90 minutes. Though with the result looking poor on paper, Dinamo Minsk are certainly stronger than their 14th position in the table suggests, they finished fourth in the 2019 season.

Division top scorer Jasur Yakhshiboev got on the scoresheet again for the Students, upping his tally to three with his side stretching their lead at the top to three points above a cluster of six teams on six points. Aleksey Nosko broke the deadlock on 21 minutes, and it was looking rosy before Aik Musahagin received his marching orders following a second yellow card with 20 minutes left to play. However, they held on comfortably with Yakhshiboev’s strike coming in additional time.

Transfer dealings

Energetik-BGU made a host of signings from direct Belarusian Premier League rivals in the off-season, contributing to their transformation. 24-year-old Cameroonian striker Junior Atemengue joined from Neman Grodno but is yet to get off the mark, Aleksey Nosko came from reigning champions Dinamo Brest as did young centre-back Daniil Miroshnikov on loan.

Last H2H at Torpedo Stadium

Last season the match at Torpedo Stadium was an epic 3-3 draw, with five of these two’s six matches so far this term having under 2.5 goals a more cautious encounter is to be expected. Four of the six goals that day were scored by players who have departed since and yet defender Valeri Gorbachik, Zhodino’s match winner against Belshina Bobruisk still popped up with one.

The 2019 season would suggest that Zhodino should be confident of a win but as the 3-3 draw showed it was not as simple as it seemed, in form Energetik-BGU will throw everything at them to keep their run going.

Torpedo Zhodino – Energetik-BGU Betting Tip
