Sweden to best Belgium in very open contest
Sweden and Belgium will duke it out for a place in the semi-finals of Euro 2022 against hosts England early next week when they take to the field at Leigh Sports Village on Friday night. The Red Flames in particular have done well to reach the knockout stages, though they are once again up against more fancied opposition in the form of Blågult. Read our preview here:
As long as it's Blackstenius
Peter Gerhardsson's charges have looked impressive throughout the tournament to date, drawing their opener against Netherlands before edging Switzerland and then completely thrashing Portugal. He is set to name an unchanged XI tonight, with Arsenal forward Stina Blackstenius, unused in the second game, given another chance to impress after rounding off the rout last time out. Attacking midfielder Filippa Angeldal will be tasked with supporting the front three once more, which she did to aplomb with her brace against A Selecção das Quinas.
Eurlings in the morning
Ives Serneels is under no illusions that his side are the underdogs, but can take great heart from their efforts in the competition thus far, which culminated in leapfrogging Iceland by dumping out Italy. They have scored once in every game, and might need to improve on that record to stand a decent shout of an unlikely semi-final berth. 19 year old Hannah Eurlings hasn't sparked into life yet, but has still got the skillset to upset her opponents on her left flank as part of a triumvirate in attack that also includes Tine De Caigny, who enjoys a goalscoring ratio for her nation of one in two after 75 caps.
