Roma to lift first ever Conference League trophy
Roma and Feyenoord will contest the maiden UEFA Europa Conference League final at the Arena Kombëtare in Tirana on Wednesday night. José Mourinho's side edged out Leicester City in the semis to set up this clash with the Dutch side, who will be hoping to win their first continental competition in a generation. Mour than a feeling
Friday's win over Torino ensured that I Giallorossi will be playing Europa League football next term, regardless of what happens in Albania. Only Henrikh Mkhitaryan is a doubt for the final, allowing Mourinho to retain a very settled XI. Tammy Abraham will be gunning for his 22nd goal since signing permanently for the capital club, which would cement his place as the top English scorer across the top five men's leagues. He will be ably supported by Lorenzo Pellegrini and Nicolò Zaniolo, whilst the defence will be marshalled by veteran Portuguese stopper Rui Patrício, who has had a fine season between the sticks.
An overflowing Til
Arne Slot's charges will go in as slight underdogs by most observers' accounts, though they did impressively beat Marseille to reach the showdown encounter. The former AZ Alkmaar head coach has been joined by Robin van Persie as one of his assistants, and they too have overseen qualification to the second tier of European football next term. De club aan de Maas will be missing regular 'keeper Justin Bijlow, who has recently started turning out for the Dutch national side. The left channel will include Luis Sinisterra and Guus Til - between them, the pair have racked up 31 goals across all competitions and should dovetail to great effect.
Betting tip
Mourinho's exploits are well-known, having won the old UEFA Cup, the Europa League, and the Champions League. Hoisting aloft the Conference League would be just another honour to add to his burgeoning collection, whereas it would represent a bit more perhaps to Slot's Feyenoord. That said, betway's odds of 2.25 for a Roma win within normal time shouldn't be overlooked.
