River Plate to shake off indifferent start
2021 Primera División champions River Plate haven't had things all their own way in the new season, winning just one of their opening four matches. On Saturday evening, they welcome Lanús to El Monumental with the hope that they can kickstart their campaign. Read our preview here:
Hey Julián
On the 6th of July, Julián Álvarez is set to join up with Manchester City and stay in Eastlands, despite many clubs coveting him for a 12-month loan spell. Naturally, Los Millonarios will seek to make the very most of his remaining two weeks at the club, having crashed in eight goals across two spellbinding performances in the current campaign. Uruguayan head coach Enzo Francescoli has a full complement of players to select from.
Built on Sand
At the other end of the age spectrum is 41 year old José Sand. The Granate striker, who counts the hosts amongst his former clubs over a 23-year professional career, continues to prove his worth in the top tier of Argentinian football. Partnered by Lucas Varaldo up top in a 4-4-2, he is unlikely to enjoy the lion's share of chances, but remains a threat inside the area and from free-kicks.
Betting tip
River Plate are certain to utilise Álvarez to full effect on home soil, and can be backed at 2.55 with Casumo to score more than two goals.
