River Plate to power onwards
River Plate take on Alianza Lima in the final match of their Copa Libertadores pool on Wednesday evening, with top and bottom already claimed respectively. Read our preview here:
Hey Julián
With qualification to the knockout stages already sealed, head coach Marcelo Gallardo is set to rotate his side whilst still wanting to finish with a flourish. Manchester City loanee Julián Álvarez could be lining up for one of the final times with Los Millonarios, with his parent club currently negotiating an early recall for a seven-figure fee. Surprisingly, the forward has yet to score on the continental stage, but would dearly love to change that at El Monumental.
Ballón Door
Peruvian veteran Jefferson Farfán is a long-term absentee for the visitors, who will probably line up in a conventional 4-4-2 shape. Josepmir Ballón is another experienced campaigner in the side who once had a loan spell for the hosts earlier in his career. The defensive midfielder will be looking to thwart his one-time employers wherever possible and initiate some attacks of his own.
Betting tip
Parimatch have odds of 3.40 for a routine home win for River Plate with Alianza Lima scoring as well in reply.
