Leipzig to make light work of Freiburg
Germany is the first country out of the big five in Europe to restart its domestic top division as the Bundesliga returns this weekend. RB Leipzig still hold outside hopes of the title, can they get back on the winning trail after a long hiatus? Have a read of our preview here:
RB’s stutter allowing Bayern breathing space
It holds true that RB Leipzig may never have a better chance to win the Bundesliga than this season, yet as they get back underway four draws in their last six games have scuppered hopes of it becoming a reality.
The club, under the guidance of highly-talented coach Julien Nagelsmann. Have enjoyed a brilliant season but it may still fall short of their ultimate goal.
Timo Werner has been a talisman up front but frustrating draws with Wolfsburg and Leverkusen have seen a five point gap open between themselves and league leaders, Bayern Munich.
Dortmund have also edged ahead of them by a point as they head into game week 26.
If they can produce the scintillating performances that saw them beat Werder Bremen 3-0 and Schalke 5-0 then Freiburg could be in for a long afternoon, but the main thing will be to see whether German football remains sustainable in this current global crisis.
Freiburg all over the place
Betting on Freiburg’s result this season will have had many people pulling their hair out or losing the last of what they had.
This is a side that have, in 25 games so far, only won back-to-back games once this season and that was the first two fixtures of the campaign.
Their star performer has arguably been centre back Nicolas Hofler but in terms of tangible stats, Nils Petersen is their top scorer with nine and Christian Gunter has notched five assists.
They did pick up a good win prior to shut down, beating Union Berlin 3-1 but that was following on from defeats to both Dortmund and Dusseldorf to compound the up and down campaign they have endured so far.
Going to Leipzig will be a huge task for Christian Streich’s side and they have not done enough to convince us they will come out with a result.
RB Leipzig v Freiburg betting tip
Even though RB Leipzig have found it a lot harder to get three points during their last six games, they still look pretty solid defensively so we are backing RB to beat the inconsistent Freiburg to nil at odds of 6/5 (2.20) with bet365.
