PSG to pulverise Red Star
It’s the billionaires versus the Champions League debutants. Despite the Serbian side seeing out a grey 0-0 opener against Napoli, something tells me it’ll be a different proposition away at the Parc des Princes.
PSG
PSG let slip their opener against Liverpool in the dying minutes of the match, though it has to be said it was a just loss and a quite amusing one considering that PSG had equalised only ten minutes before.
Now the Parisians need to get something from this match up if they hope to keep pace with a Liverpool side that look strongest in the group. A serious goalfest on the part of PSG would do them well and I can definitely see that happening.
Ahead of the match it looks like PSG will be missing Diarra in midfield, as well as Dani Alves and Kurzawa, although Bernat is back. All the usually superstars are available for selection.
It’s easy to blow the loss against Liverpool two weeks ago out of proportion. Domestically they’re flying after having convincing seen off Rennes 3-1, Reims 4-1 and winning 0-3 away at Nice - solid numbers to say the least. Neymar has been scoring and is in good spirits as well.
Red Star Belgrade
Red Star are making their first appearance Champions League since it was rebranding in 1992. They saw out a less than optimal match against Napoli to secure a dour point at home a fortnight ago.
Red Star like their rivals have been dominant outside of the Champions League. They’ve gone an incredible 34 matches without succumbing to a defeat. Their last one was against CSKA Moscow in February.
Regardless of that record, their opponents in PSG are a whole different proposition. They managed to hold Napoli off at home in Belgrade but going away to Paris is something else.
Match Tips
I’m weighing in strongly on PSG’s side and I’m expecting at least 3 goals from the Frenchmen and that’s probably a conservative guess as well.
