Monza take the upper hand to Pisa
Pisa host Monza for the second leg of the Serie B play-off final on Sunday in a momentous occasion in the Italian second tier.
Monza won the first leg 2-1 at Stadio Brianteo, conceding from a corner kick to keep the tie alive for the Black and Blues.
Monza did have a couple of half chances to take a three goal lead which would have been very tough for Pisa to overcome, but heading their home leg only one goal behind is a good position to be in, considering where they were.
Pisa are favourites to win the game on the night, but interestingly Monza are heavy favourites to win promotion, and considering the momentum shift in the tie, they are too short.
Background
The pressure is on and it will be very interesting to see how Monza approach the match.
Do they sit on their lead and ask Pisa if they are brave enough to commit men forward to break them down, or do they go on the offensive, and try and nick an early goal to put them in a great position.
Christian Gytkjaer made an excellent impact off the bench for the White and Reds in the first leg, there will be a temptation to start the 32-year-old and should Monza go behind, he will have a part to play in turning the tide.
It was a commanding performance from Monza in the first leg, they created the better chances and have put themselves in a strong position, it is theirs to lose at this stage.
Goals?
The occasion has to come into it, and I am more than happy to take unders at a backable price, with Monza potentially adopting a more defensive approach.
