Don’t underestimate the Foxes
My pick for the weekend’s Premier League action is Newcastle - Leicester where Newcastle are considered undeserved favourites.
Newcastle
Newcastle continue to rack up match after match without a win. Now they’re on an eleven game losing streak, especially considering they’ve gone against Championship opposition in the League Cup.
Having said that their defence did show serious character when coming up against the likes of Spurs, Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal. Still the defeats haven’t dented Newcastle’s chances in the eyes of the bookies. The Geordies are surprisingly going in as favourites against a team who clearly have more about them and are in better form.
Don’t forget that Newcastle are missing Lejeune and it could be likely that Rondon is out too after being taken off early in the second half against Palace.
Leicester
Leicester have started the season in a decent fashion despite a couple of defeats. Defensively though there’s a lot left to be desired. Despite switching centre back pairings between Maguire/Morgan and Maguire/Evans, they’ve not managed to bring order to the backline.
In front of defence though Leicester have not disappointed. Maddison has come into the team and performed well, and his free kicks are definitely an asset. Vardy is on his way back after suspension and should slot right back in.
The general feeling is that Leicester will need to score two or three goals to win at Newcastle, depending on how set they are at the back on the day.
Match Tips
Newcastle have wrongly been put up as favourites for this match. It should be the other way around. True, Newcastle have had a killer schedule to start the season off with but they’re still not better than Leicester - even considering Leicester’s untrustworthy defensive lineup.
