Defending champions Netherlands to get big scare
After all four teams in Group C drew their opening games of Euro 2022, it's all to play for in the second round of fixtures. Defending champions Netherlands face off against Portugal at Leigh Sports Village in what will be a huge match for both sides. Read our preview here:
A Roord for her own back
Mark Parsons will be demanding a more clincial edge from his players to ensure their task in the final game of the group stage is a relatively small one. Oranje will attempt to play on the front foot from the outset, but they have lost first choice goalkeeper Sari van Veenendaal for the rest of the tournament. 22 year old Daphne van Domselaar will deputise. Elsewhere, only midfield dynamo Jill Roord enhanced her reputation in the disappointing stalemate against Sweden, scoring the equaliser in that 1-1 draw.
Silva lining
A Selecção das Quinas roared back from a two-goal deficit to achieve parity against Switzerland, though they know Wednesday's opponents won't be so accommodating if they fall behind like that once more. It was Jéssica Silva who got that all-important second, and the Benfica striker will have the confidence to bolster her own credentials and help her nation have a fighting chance of qualification. She will be backed up by club teammate and rising star Kika Nazareth, who will look to make late runs into the box to support the front three.
