Impressive Lille to get second win in two
Lille travel to the Beaujoire Stadium on Friday evening to face Nantes in the second gameweek of Ligue 1. Les Dogues thwacked Auxerre 4-1 in the opener, and despite losing pivot Amadou Onana to Everton earlier in the week, they should still have enough about them to get success on the road. Lafont of knowledge
Les Canaris drew a blank in an even game away to Angers, and a similar outcome here would represent a solid point at the very least. The star performers from that match from head coach Antoine Kombouaré's perspective were centre back Andrei Girotto and goalkeeper Alban Lafont. The latter, still only 23, has plenty of competition when it comes to dreaming of a senior call-up to the national side, though the combination of his height, being quick with this feet, and a knack of saving penalties stands him in good stead. Only left wing-back Charles Traoré looks set to miss out entirely.
Bayo dip
The expected summer exodus has brought in much needed revenue to Paulo Fonseca's side. The former Roma manager agreed a deal to take over from Jocelyn Gourvennec in the close season as the club look to regain a footing near the top of the standings. Replacing Burak Yılmaz up top is Guinean striker Mohamed Bayo, though he is not a like-for-like swap. Taller and fresh from a very good scoring ratio for Clermont last term, he still has Canadian star Jonathan David behind him in support. His teammate got a brace in the opener, and will be content to share the burden of finishing chances with a player who can do more outside the penalty area.
