MK Dons continue their promotion charge
MK Dons have a real opportunity to cement their place in the top three when they host Yeovil this weekend and I am backing them to do just that.
Tisdale’s men are on the charge
Paul Tisdale is one of the most experienced managers in League Two. His 12 years with Exeter were, on the whole, very successful and now he has a chance at a club with a bigger budget to show what he can do.
The last two games have not been particularly successful for MK as they were well beaten on the Lancashire coast at Morecambe in mid-week before being held at home by Stevenage yet the previous five games had seen Tisdale’s men pick up maximum points.
They also create a lot of chances. Only Manchester City (245) have created more chances than MK Dons (241) in the top four tiers of English football this season.
With Mansfield and Lincoln playing out a draw on Monday it leaves the door wide open for MK Dons to walk through and keep the pressure well and truly on the Stags.
Home comforts
Milton Keynes obviously enjoy playing in their state of the art stadium and who wouldn’t but having a massive ground can sometime see visiting sides up their game. Tisdale’s side have coped wonderfully well with this throughout the season, boasting one of the best home records in League Two.
Only Bury and Mansfield have picked up more points than MK on home soil and even then only by one. Just three sides have walked away with maximum returns from Stadium MK this campaign and then all by a single goal margin.
The visit of Yeovil, therefore, should not give Paul Tisdale many sleepless nights.
Woeful Yeovil
If there is one side in League Two desperately trying to impersonate a barrel of cider tumbling in freefall down a Somerset hill, it is the Glovers.
Apart from the first six weeks of the season Yeovil have been dreadful and are looking like a side in big trouble. Last weekend they lost a relegation six pointer at home to the side directly below them, Macclesfield and that defeat meant they have lost 11 of their last 15 games.
The Glovers look toothless up front and have failed to score in their last three games while conceding six, so a trip to high flying Milton Keynes Dons is definitely not what the doctor ordered.
Darren Way has his work cut out if he is to save both his job and the Glovers season with fan unrest at the highest levels for some years.
Betting tip
Given MK’s impressive home form and Yeovil lacking any signs of life this could be the perfect time for the home side to reassert themselves in the automatic places. The forward pairing of Kieran Agard and Chuks Aneke could fill their boots in this one so backing MK Dons to win both halves at odds of 14/5 should be a shoe in.
