City set phasers to stun
City’s surprise loss away to Newcastle caught a few people off guard, no one more than boss Pep Guardiola who cut a forlorn figure slumped in his chair in the Geordie’s away dugout.
To make matters worse they went down after opening up the scoring. It’s unlikely that’ll happen at home though with the Sky Blues looking to bounce back in a big way.
Opposite ends of the spectrum
City have everyone available in attack and Arsenal are nursing injuries to a defensive line that’s already got doubts written all over it. Those are two that just don’t mix and City’s forward thinking players will look to exploit this situation.
Nowhere to be found
Arsenal go missing in the majority of their big away games. Simple. as. that. They’ve managed a win in the derby at home and most recently to Chelsea 2-0. No disrespect to Arsenal but quite rightly, more focus post match was on how Chelsea didn’t show up, rather than Arsenal being a force to be reckoned with.
The Gunners have already lost against City at home this season, gone down away to Chelsea and struggled at Old Trafford to a Mourinho Man United that were in the throes of a crisis.
We built this City
True, City have hit a bit of a purple patch compared to their usual high standards, but aside from an uncharacteristic loss to Palace a couple weeks ago the Etihad has been a fortress. That’s the only Premier League game they’ve lost all season, and the way they neutralised Liverpool recently was simply a tactical masterclass from the Citizens.
Key Facts
- Arsenal have failed to win in 3 visits to the Etihad (2 losses, 1 draw)
- City have scored 2 or more against the Gunners in the last four meetings
- City have scored at least 2 in every home game this season
Manchester City vs. Arsenal Betting Tip
There’s definite a temptation to play it a bit safer and go for a straight City win here. Losing to Newcastle boosted the odds to around 3/10 (1.30) but I fancy the City to do a number over Arsenal back at the Etihad. Maybe they don’t go crazy but I can see a win by a couple on Sunday afternoon.
That’s why I’m going for City -1 at odds of 7/10 (1.75). Ladbrokes are offering the best odds on the market so jump on that for premium value.

Agüero's first minute goal set the pace going forward. Arsenal did have some positive moments but City were just too much to handle for them in the end.
