Liverpool to sink wimpering Watford
Liverpool are running away with the Premier League title so far this season and it appears no one can stop them. Can Watford put a dent in their title hopes? Have a read of our preview here:
When can we celebrate?
Liverpool fans are being understandably cautious about their chances of winning the Premier League this season and you can’t really blame them seeing how close they have come in the past, only not to quite have enough. Surely, though, this season is going to be different.
They smashed Bournemouth on the south coast last weekend like a tidal wave against the rocks and as the flotsam and jetsam settles, they prepare to host another ship with more than a few holes already visible.
The Reds didn’t allow the Cherries a shot on target and they are just so strong in all areas. Naby Keita became the 16th Liverpool player to score in the Premier League this season and that just highlights their strength in depth.
Klopp’s men have won 24 of their past 25 Premier League matches and have scored two or more goals in 23 of those.
It is scary how good this team is, so Liverpool fans can surely allow themselves a smile and, perhaps, even start to dream a little – go on, it is the season to be jolly after all!
Nigel Pearson has a big job on his hands
Watford have finally appointed a manager who was born on these shores, not that it makes much of a difference, but a change in approach could be exactly what the Hornets need.
Graham Taylor was their most successful manager and Pearson performed the great escape with Leicester before their immortal season in 2016. He knows how to set teams up and it will be a park the bus mentality on Saturday.
Watford are the only side in the top four tiers of English football yet to hit double figures for league goals this season (9).
They really are struggling to score, and this is probably the hardest issue to solve. Pearson has to think fast and only has a contract until the end of the season to impress – a long road may lie ahead.
