Ligue 1’s surprise package to role on
Lille again
Back again with another Lille tip, and the reigning French champions have been fairly good value so far barring our midweek tip for them. We’re sticking with their struggles away from home particularly and travelling to the Stade Bollaert-Deleis to take on a high-flying Lens side could spell further trouble for Lille. Lens were certainly the surprise package of last season and sitting just a couple of points behind second place Angers should give Franck Haise’s side increasing confidence coming into this game against a very shaky Lille side.
Leaky defences all round
The visitors have leaked six goals in three away games this season and coming up against Lens, a very fast pace attacking side, could spell further trouble for the hosts. One bright spot, however, is the return of Jonathan David. He had a goal ruled out in midweek against Wolfsburg due to a tight call of the ball going out of play earlier in the attacking phase, however he hasn’t seemed to have lost his goalscoring touch and I can see him scoring against Lens. They also saw the return of right back Zeki Celik who could help sure up the defence, but it seems unlikely that he single-handedly will be able to fix a very shaky back line. Lens themselves aren’t exactly known for their defensive prowess either and this could be a case of both teams simply going to outscore the other.
Lens in the goals
The hosts have proved they can mix it with the big boys in Ligue 1. Their 0-2 win against Monaco cemented this claim, and with three of their last four games ending in over 3.5 goals, let alone over 2.5 goals, bodes well for this tip. I certainly don’t fancy either team outright here, as they’re both very unpredictable week in week out. But the goals bet certainly seems to be the way to go here.
Lille’s struggles could well continue here, but as I say, an outright would be very risky here. With both teams priced quite similarly, it’s clear the bookies can’t split these two sides either. That’s why I’m going with over 2.5 goals with bet365.
