Lazio v Juventus: when you're hot, you're hot
It is third versus second at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday evening as Lazio host Juventus. Can the Biancocelesti be the first side to take maximum points off Maurizio Sarri’s side this season? Have a read of our preview here:
The streak continues
What a run Lazio are on right now. The Eagles are coming into this huge clash as the in-form team in Serie A leading the form table thanks to six consecutive victories.
They have only lost twice throughout the entire campaign and after a stuttering start, have pushed themselves into contention thanks to a nine-game unbeaten run that stretches back to late September.
Simone Inzaghi must take the plaudits, but he has been helped thanks to some excellent displays from Ciro Immobile and Luis Alberto.
The pair have been unbelievably good this season with Immobile bagging 17 goals in just 14 appearances in Serie A – better than a goal per game ratio – while Alberto has nine assists.
Immobile has also notched five assists himself meaning the Italian international has been directly involved in exactly 22 of Lazio’s 33 top-flight goals this season, simply staggering.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has also been immense in the centre of the park making the Biancocelesti one of the most formidable sides in Italy right now.
Old Lady, new identity
Sarri-ball is very much in full swing in Turin thanks to a 14-game unbeaten start to the new season. This is not really that surprising given Juve’s huge resources compared to the rest of the division but sticks them a point behind leaders Inter due to them having drawn three games including a 2-2 stalemate at home to Sassuolo last weekend.
There have been some murmurings of discontent with Cristiano Ronaldo subject to most of those rumours, but the Portuguese star ended his goal drought with a strike in that draw last time out, netting his first goals since October.
It will be a truly exciting game, not just because of the history between the two sides, but also because there appears to be an actual title race taking place in Serie A for the first time since Napoli pushed Juve all the way in 2017-18.
If Lazio win people may start taking them seriously as a Scudetto contender – exciting times indeed.
Lazio vs. Juventus Betting Tip
These two sides head into this one in great shape. Lazio on the kind of winning streak not often seen in the capital and Juventus still unbeaten all season. With that in mind, it will likely be a close game and so backing it to end in a draw at odds of 5/2 with William Hill is definitely excellent value.
