Iceland to melt in the white heat of France
Iceland go into their final group game of Euro 2022 knowing that only a win against already qualified France will guarantee them passage through to the quarter finals. Though they are in second, they cannot rely on Belgium and Italy drawing in the other game, and must upset the odds at the New York Stadium in Rotherham to stay in the competition. Had a Gudrún
Two 1-1 draws have theoretically put Stelpurnar okkar on the brink of a first appearance in the last eight since 2013, though they'll have to be at their very best to stand a chance of facing off against Scandinavian rivals Sweden later this week. Tough tackling Gudrún Arnardóttir will need to combat the front three of Les Blueus to open up avenues to hit their more fancied opponents on the counter. Bayern forward Karólína Lea Vilhjálmsdóttir, who has an excellent goalscoring record at national level, will be after a second strike at this summer's tournament.
Sarr-y, not sorry
The temptation must be there for head coach Corinne Diacre to rest some of her most prominent performers, given that their place is secure and they already know the identity of their opponents later in the week (Netherlands). They did however lose PSG's Marie-Antoinette Katoto for the remainder of their stay in England, so Ouleymata Sarr's role could become more prominent in the frontline. The dead rubber match on Monday evening will be her chance to shine.
