Rangers to win the CL battle but not the war
Glasgow Rangers have it all to do in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League qualification clash with Belgian side Union Saint Gilloise on Tuesday night at Ibrox. Gio van Bronckhorst's charges lost the opening tie 2-0 in Vorst, and though they will be backed by a huge partisan crowd on their own turf, it might not be enough to turn around the deficit. Get Rıd of it
Domestically, things have gone to plan in the first few fixtures of the SPFL, with the Bears on maximum points alongside fierce rivals Celtic. That will be of little solace if they fall at this stage in Europe, however. Recruitment in the summer has focused on bringing in players who have yet to hit their peak and a credible alternative to Alfredo Morelos up top in the guise of Croatian forward Antonio Čolak, who is already off the mark for his new club and is set to start once more. Elsewhere, fellow new face Rıdvan Yılmaz will look to shut down the wing-back on the left flank and join in the attacks with increasing frequency.
Dante's inferno
Les Unionistes were a whisker away last term from achieving the incredible feat of following up promotion to the First Division A with a title, topping the table in the regular campaign but losing out to Club Brugge in the play-offs. Their adventure on the continent is their first for nearly 60 years and they dominated the first match between the two sides. Striker Dante Vanzeir was rewarded recently for his fine form with a maiden international cap for the Red Devils, and his ability to create chances for teammates will serve him and his side well in a game where they're expected to have few spells of sustained possession.
Betting tip
Parimatch have odds of 4.90 for Rangers to win the second leg with both teams scoring.
