Getafe to battle hard against La Liga pace setters
Surprise recent league leaders Granada travel to the capital to face a Getafeside who have made a slow start to the season considering their impressive Europa League securing effort last term. The hosts are 13th with El Granacurrently deputising to Barcelona in the fight for top spot, despite the early form Getafe are slight favourites for Thursday evening’s encounter. The visitors’ last three victories have all come by a goal to nil, so a low scoring affair could be on the cards taking Granada’s incredible recent defensive record into account.
Recent statistics
Getafe have only kept one clean sheet all season in contrast to Granada who have kept six clean sheets in their last eight outings, they have also capitalised and won all six matches when they have scored the opening goal. Defences aside history suggests there could be plenty of goals with both teams finding the net in the last five head-to-heads and four of the last five have brought over 2.5 finishes. There have been under 2.5 goals in Getafe’s last three games and it is likely that such case will be repeated on Thursday.
Newly promoted Granada
Diego Martinez’s men have embarked on a remarkable run, equally their point tally of 20 from when they were relegated in 2015/16 already only 10 games into the campaign. It remains to be seen whether they can sustain their push in the top half and the trip to Madridis exactly the test that will prove just how much this team has in skill and desire.
Their most impressive result so far was their comfortable 2-0 victory at home to Barcelonain late September, they absorbed pressure brilliantly and managed to shut out the champions by only conceding shot on target from eight attempts.
Veteran forward Roberto Soldado may slot in to lead the line for them in this midweek fixture and his guile and nous could be key to them taking a point or more back home. The journeyman joined as a free agent after a stint in Turkey with Fenerbahce, now 34 he will looking to repay some of the faith El Grana have shown in him on the pitch.
A cagey match will ensue with both teams happy with a point and therefore there will not be many goals.
