Germany to edge out Denmark in testy affair
Germany and Denmark clash under the lights at the Brentford Community Stadium on Friday night. Both sides will fancy their chances of qualifying from their Euro 2022 group, but Die Nationalelf ought to have the edge. Read our preview here:
No Buhl, please
Though lacking star players Dzsenifer Marozsán and Melanie Leupolz, Martina Voss-Tecklenburg should still be confident about leading her side into the knockout phase. Lyon midfielder Sara Däbritz will take up the cudgels in the engine room and dictate the tempo, whilst the hugely exciting Klara Bühl, who scored a hat-trick in the warm-up game against Switzerland, will relish the opportunity to plunder further strikes on the big stage.
Tasty Veje
Lars Søndergaard will hope to replicate the feats of the side that from five years ago when De rød-hvide finished as runners-up. Versatile left-sided player Katrine Veje was in that team and remains a key figure in 2022, and her all-round ability will greatly enhance their strength in that channel. Elsewhere, Kathrine Møller Kühl will be one of the youngest individuals at the entire tournament at the tender age of 18, and could be called upon from the outset to conjure something from between the lines.
