Fortunes Reversed
Fortuna Düsseldorf will host RB Leipzig at the Merkur Spiel-Arena at 5PM on Sunday. Fortuna started the season in terrible form and many had them as one of the teams to go down. But since then things have changed for the better and they are enjoying a great run of form. RB Leipzig are hopeless away from home and now they will meet a team high on confidence.
Fortuna Düsseldorf
Die Flingeraner's manager Funkel is finally getting the best out of his team. Even in December it seemed that Fortuna were going to head down to the German Bundelsiga 2. But just as expected goals suggested, their fortunes have reversed and now they're starting to see the results they rightly deserve.
Four wins in a row now, and an impressive win at home against league leaders Dortmund
At home they have won three of their last four matches, with the loss coming against Mainz in a match they really should have won.
Their goal difference is 1.33 goals scored and 1.44 conceded.
A negative goal difference which is still the result of a terrible start to the season. In the last four matches their goal difference has been 8-3. Fortuna have a really interesting player in Lukebakio, who has scored seven goals this season. Even their centre back pairing of Kaminski/Ayhan have stood up to the task ahead. They also have a great keeper in Rensing. They do have injuries, but they should be able to field their desired first team.

RB Leipzig
Die Roten Bullen are good at home. Away from home? Not so much. On away form alone they are 14th in Bundesliga, with eight points and things are only getting worse.
They've lost their last three away games, without scoring a single goal
Only two wins away from home this season. Their goal difference demonstrates just how bad they have been, 0.88 scored and 1.38 conceded (7-11). Their expected goals suggest that they should have scored five less goals than they could have expected but this is very much down to their attacking combo of Werner/Poulsen who are short of confidence away from home.
Their midfield is less creative now that Keita has moved to Liverpool and Forsberg is injured. They've also been hit with key injuries to Bruma and their centre back Upamecano is suspended. It doesn't look like Forsberg will be cleared to start.
- League Postion: 4
Betting tip
Don't let their league positions trick you. If we look at current form then Fortuna are clearly in a better place than Leipzig.
Die Roten Bullen just can't score at the moment, which is not something you can say about Fortuna
With the Dusseldorf-based team's ambitions and status at stake here, this a must-win match. The market has overrated Leipzig. As it stands now Fortuna is a better team at home than Leipzig is away.
I'll bet on Fortuna Düsseldorf with a double chance 1x at odds of 21/20.
