Torpedo to keep it tight
FC Minsk host Torpedo BelAZ in the Belarusian Premier League’s early kick-off on Saturday. Can the capital club put their recent poor run well and truly behind them? Have a read of our preview here:
Ending the losing run was huge for FC Minsk
FC Minsk came into their fixture away at Slavia Mozyr last weekend starring down the barrel of a potential fourth straight defeat, but they needn’t have worried.
They put Slavia to the sword with an excellent performance on the road. They opened the scoring when Roman Gribovskiy thumped home the rebound following a fierce shot from his teammate.
They then doubled their lead when Yaroslav Yarotskiy netted almost immediately after the restart. They could have scored again before Slavia pulled one back, but the points were sealed with eight minutes to go when Artem Vasiljev lobbed the keeper on the counter-attack.
It was an important result for FC Minsk who started the campaign with back-to-back wins only to follow this up with three consecutive defeats. They looked good in those opening rounds and will have been very relieved to find their scoring touch again.
Torpedo BelAZ will be another difficult game in a league that is very competitive.
Torpedo offer a stern test
Last season Torpedo BelAZ finished in sixth place and were hoping they could build on that this season. They have certainly made a very positive start.
Last weekend’s 0-0 draw with Ruh Brest means they have bagged 11 points from their opening six fixtures and look in very good shape.
Defensively they are rock solid, keeping five clean-sheets in their opening six games having conceded just two goals all season.
They head to Minsk hopeful of another big display and you would want to back against them.
FC Minsk vs Torpedo BelAZ betting tip
FC Minsk may well be back on the winning trail but they will need to convince their supporters that this is not just a flash in the pan. Their game against Torpedo BelAZ should be a good marker of that but it won’t be easy, so we are backing this one to finish with under 2.5 goals at odds of 8/15 with bet365.
