Everton to finish at home with a win
Everton’s final home game of 2018/19 has seen the club making steady progress under Marco Silva and they will want to end the campaign with a bang.
Like a Silva bullet
The Toffees have had an interesting season. They probably had high expectations coming into a campaign with players like Richarlison and Sigurdsson but at times it has been a real struggle.
The lack of a goal scorer has been a problem since Romelu Lukaku left and that is something that will need to be addressed by Everton’s recruitment team in the summer if the club are to finish in Europe.
Yerry Mina has given them an excellent defender to build around even though he has had injury problems recently and along with Michael Keane, the Toffees have a couple of players they can rely on.
Sigurdsson in midfield is a brilliant creative force and Jordan Pickford, despite a couple of errors, has been solid in net, giving Everton a core of good players to build on as the spine over the summer.
Recent improvement
Everton’s recent improvement has been down to a much better defensive record since late February.
The Toffees have kept seven clean sheets in their past nine league games, one more than in their first 27 games this season.
This is a clear sign that things are starting to come together for Silva and although it may be later in the season than he would have liked there are plenty of positives to take going forward.
One defeat in the last six and only two in the last nine is a very good record. If Everton remain undefeated in their final two games, even though their final match is away to Spurs, the fans can go away feeling very confident of a better 2019/20.
Never underestimate Burnley
Everyone should know by now that you can’t underestimate a team managed by Sean Dyche. He has done a tremendous job to turn this season around after an awful start.
The defeat against Manchester City showed, again, how tough they are to play against with the only goal of the game just sneaking over the line.
They have only lost two of their last eight on the road and have lost just five games in the last 17 in the Premier League but a trip to Everton without anything riding on it may just give the home side the advantage.
Everton - Burnley betting tip
With the Toffees looking to end the season on a high and Burnley already well out of danger, it is likely that Marco Silva’s side will take all three points at Goodison Park on Friday night. That’s why backing Everton to win at odds of 4/6 is still a good bet despite the skinny odds.
