Dinamo take on table toppers Slutsk in Minsk
Dinamo Minsk host the league leaders Slutsk this weekend in the Belarusian Premier League. The capital club have had an up and down start, but can they finally find some consistency and move within a point of the leaders? Have a read of our preview here:
Dinamo Minsk yet to convince
A fourth-place finish last year had many Dinamo fans hoping they could make a title challenge this season and that may still be the case but they have been far from convincing so far.
The side with one of the most established histories in the Belarusian Premier League struggled to get going. Three defeats in the opening four rounds left them scratching their heads but they may have found some form.
Two wins in their last two has seen them move to within four points of visitors and table toppers Slutsk and will give them some motivation as they look to close the gap.
They will be looking to 27-year-old forward Evgeni Shikavka to score the goals with the frontman already netting four times this season. The creativity comes from 23-year-old Vladislav Klimovich. He has created 11 chances so far, at least four more than any of his teammates.
They need to produce the defensive displays of the last two games rather than the first two of the campaign, if they can do that then moving up the table is almost inevitable.
Slutsk set the early pace
Not many people would have expected Slutsk to be sitting top of the Premier League after six matches but they are there on merit after beating Belshina last weekend.
They have Umar Bala to thank for that victory with the player nabbing a goal two minutes from time to seal another big result. They had been 2-0 up and coasting but allowed Belshina back in it with a goal either side of half-time.
This season the character they have shown is probably their biggest asset and it has helped them to four wins and a draw from their opening six matches.
They will be hoping to continue their excellent record in front of goal when they travel to Minsk on Saturday.
