Spurs to battle and win in the Serbian capital
Mauricio Pochettino’s misfiring Spurs travel to Serbia in the hope of pressing on towards qualification in Group B currently topped by Bayern Munich. Joint-third top scorer in the competition so far, Harry Kane, is doubtful having missed the game against Everton on Sunday and therefore increasing the chances of the side from the Serbian capital. Amongst their poor form Spurs’ most eye-catching performance was a 5-0 win in the reverse fixture on matchday three where the partnership of Kane and Son Heung-Min blossomed to succumb Crvena zvezda to their heaviest defeat of the season.
Champions League finalists’ barren run
The pressure is building on Pochettino’s shoulders given the money he was finally allowed to spend in the summer transfer window. The North Londonershave only won three of their last 14 games including conceding a heartbreaking 98th minute equaliser on Merseyside on Sunday, with Dele Alligetting on the scoresheet for the second time in three Premier League outings.
They looked to be turning a corner with a win at home to Southampton in late September that followed a desperately unlucky defeat to high-flying Leicester City, until the crushing visit of Bayern Munich lead to a 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion with Hugo Lloris fracturing his elbow.
A tough place to go
Liverpool ended up falling to a 2-0 loss in Belgrade in the 2018/19 group stage having beaten them 4-0 at home in the reverse fixture, so Spurs must take note, the 5-0 win does not mean everything coming into what will be a very hostile atmosphere. 25-year-old forward Milan Pavkov bagged a brace that night and will be looking to inflict a similar pain on the English side having only made a 29-minute cameo at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Tottenham have struggled particularly on the road of late without a win since January, increasing the difficulty of this encounter, and the scarring from their 98th minute failure last time out. Should they be defeated on Wednesday evening Crvena zvezda will have a two-point lead on them going into the last two group stage fixtures, making it an uphill battle to progress. Though they can take confidence from their run towards to end of the 2018/19 group stage and Lucas Moura’s Camp Nou heroics for inspiration.
Tottenham will back their manager with immense fighting spirit and continue to resurrect their campaign by taking all three points back to North London.

Spurs ran riot in Serbia, winning 4-0 thanks to Giovani Lo Celso's extremely scrappy opener, a Son Heung-Min brace and Christian Eriksen put the cherry on top on 85 minutes.
