Regal top of the table clash
Sunday kicks off its double header with a top of the table clash between the Chennai Super Kings and the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Two side who look like they could be serious challengers this year, meet for Match 19 of the 2021 Vivo Indian Premier League in Mumbai.
Faf’s the man
There weren’t many positives to take from the 2020 IPL in the UAE for the Chennai Super Kings, but one that they did have, was the form of South African Faf du Plessis. And the Yellow Army will be pleased to see that the batsman continues to impress at the top of the order, as he guided his side to a whopping 220/3 against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday.
Du Plessis (95*) and opening partner Ruturaj Gaikwad (64) put on 115 for the opening wicket before cameos from Moeen Ali and MS Dhoni helped to boost the CSK total.
With the ball, it was Deepak Chahar, who excelled again with the new ball, took four wickets to reduce KKR to 31-5. The game looked dead and buried at that point, but some lower order power hitting from Pat Cummins and Andre Russell meant the game went in to the last over, but the points went to MS Dhoni’s men.
They couldn’t be up against a stiffer opposition this time, and CSK will have to be the first team to take points off the Royal Challengers if they want to make a charge for the top of the table.
Unbeatable, unbreakable
The only team that are unbeaten so far in this IPL, are the only team to never win it. The IPL’s nearly men are looking strong this year, and this top of the table clash, could go a long way in to deciding the outcome of the final IPL table this year.
It was nearly the perfect performance from RCB on Thursday night in their 10 wicket demolition job against the struggling Rajasthan Royals. Three wickets for Mohammed Siraj helped keep the Royals to just 177 as they lost nine wickets.
In reply, Devdutt Padikkal continued to show why he is one of the most talked about youngsters in world cricket with his maiden IPL hundred as him and his captain Virat Kohli knocked off the reasonable target with 21 balls left in the tank.
Match Tip
Both teams are bang on it at the moment with bat and ball. The RCB openers will have to deal with the danger of Deepak Chahar in the powerplay, and dislodge du Plessis to take the points and remain unbeaten.
I am backing Deepak Chahar to take the most wickets in the match between the Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at 3.50 with Casumo.

Not to be for Chahar today, despite CSK recording a comprehensive victory.
