Looking up for the Blues
Chelsea welcome Newcastle to Stamford Bridge on Monday evening during the Premier Leagues 24th gameweek. Chelsea will be looking to break into the top 4 whilst Newcastle will be trying to increase the distance between them and the relegation zone.
Chelsea
The blues have been on a fine run of form since the appointment of Thomas Tuchel and look greatly improved despite the short time he has been at the helm. Chelsea have, since his hiring, won 3 and drawn 1 of their last games leaving them at 5th in the table, 1 point above Liverpool but only above West Ham in 6th due to their goal-difference.
Return on investment needed
Chelsea will be desperate to finish in the top 4 and grab a Champions League spot as they did last year, especially due to the fact that they spent roughly 250 million pounds last summer.
Given Liverpool's recent setbacks, Chelsea have a golden chance at surpassing them, a chance that they are unlikely to squander, especially given how good they have looked since Tuchels appointment.
Newcastle
The Magpies managed to end a 9 game winless streak 2 weeks ago against Everton and followed that up with a defeat against Crystal Palace and a victory against Southampton which has increased their distance to the relegation zone, temporarily at least.
Relegation scrap
Steve Bruce's men can be found down at 17th place with 10 points separating themselves from a Fulham side that currently occupy the first relegation spot. Newcastle have won 7 games, drawn 4 and lost 12 during this campaign which is definitely underwhelming for a side with the amount of talent they have.
One aspect that has been prevalent throughout the season is the difficulty Newcastle have had against the top teams; they have lost all but 2 games (both draws) against the traditional big 6 and i don't see that changing anytime soon.
Betting tip
Chelsea have looked solid both going forward and at the back whilst Newcastle have huge issues when going up against the top sides which is why i will be backing Chelsea to win and both teams to score - no at 1.87 with Betway.
