A free hit for Chelsea against Liverpool
Liverpool look unstoppable so far this season. They face Frank Lampard’s Chelsea on Sunday fresh off a superb win against Wolves. Can the young Blues cause an upset at Stamford Bridge? Have a read of our preview here:
Klopp me if you can
Terrible puns aside, this has been a fantastic start to the season for Liverpool and is exactly what they needed after missing out on the title last year. The fact that Manchester City lost to Norwich will also offer massive encouragement to the Reds.
They surely only need to replicate the form of last season to win the title as the chances of Manchester City being ruthlessly consistent are already looking slim. The way they have been scoring has been brilliant and shows that, despite seeing their key forwards have little rest over the summer, they are still in peak condition.
One concern is the fact that they have only kept one clean-sheet all season and although that does not translate into many goals, it is still something they need to improve on as they head into Champions League action.
Liverpool will be wary of a young Chelsea side that have a lot of talent and no pressure to perform.
Lampard’s faith pays off
Frank Lampard has shown unwavering faith in his young players so far this season and despite some tough results, he will have been delighted with the win away at Wolves last weekend.
Hitting five at a side that have serious European ambitions deserves massive credit and also giving Tammy Abraham both the responsibility and time to grow into the role of key striker has seen the youngster flourish. His hat-trick against Wolves will give him huge confidence as it will the whole team so facing Liverpool, a game where they won’t be under pressure, is a perfect opportunity for them to test themselves.
It doesn’t seem like it but Chelsea haven’t lost since the opening game of the season and they have hit 11 goals in four games since that loss to Manchester United.
It will be intriguing to see how they do against Jurgen Klopp’s finished article but there should be a lot of goalmouth action and entertainment for the fans.
Chelsea v Liverpool betting tip
Liverpool are massive favourites for this one, coming in at even odds but there is still value to be had from this one. Neither side have a great defensive record while scoring hasn’t been a problem so backing this one to finish with 3.5 goals at odds of 6/4 is decent value in this one.

Just one more strike would have been ideal here but Chelsea made a fist of it in the 2nd half, losing 2-1 at Stamford Bridge
