Precarious situation for the Clarets
Brighton welcome Burnley to the Amex stadium on Friday evening during the Premier Leagues matchday 8. Brighton currently sit at 16th with 5 points whilst Burnley languish down at rockbottom with 1 point, will Brighton gain ground and push towards mid-table or will Burnley get their s**t together and pull themselves out of the relegation zone?
Brighton
The seagulls have, at times, looked very impressive. Compared to a majority of their fellow bottom-dwellers Graham Potters men actually try to play football, they take the game to their opponents and look very competent when doing so. I am so sure of the fact that, despite their precarious position in the table, i would wager a decent amount on them playing in the prem next season as well.
Not what it seems
Brighton have so far raked in a mere 5 points whilst scoring 11 and conceding 14 in the process. Not the prettiest of stats but analysing why that is, is important.
Potters men have so far faced off against Chelsea, Manchester United, Everton and Tottenham. They lost all of them. However, Brighton put up valiant fights in all of those games and managed to score against them all which is not the easiest thing to do. Furthermore, the defeats to both United and Tottenham occurred due to goals in extra time, they were the better team in both fixtures and should have walked away with at least a point.
With a little more luck Brighton will climb the table sooner rather than later.
Burnley
What a shambles of a season this is turning out to be for Sean Dyches men. They are currently rockbottom after managing to scrape together one measly point. Their goal-difference of 3-12 pretty much sums it all up and there is absolutely nothing telling me they can turn this around.
No light at the end of the tunnel, yet.
The Clarets have an injury ravaged squad and also failed to invest in any notable players during the summer transfer window resulting in what you see before you. They have an incredibly hard time creating anything going forward whilst their defence has been monumentally frail, not the best of combos.
Burnley have, in their first 6 games, faced off against the likes of Leicester, Tottenham and Chelsea (all ending in defeat) which might make you think that it might not be so bad. However, they also lost to Southampton as well as Newcastle whilst managing a meagre draw against West Brom who are arguably as bad or even worse than Burnley.
Burnley have a tough, tough fixture list coming up as well meaning that if Sean Dyche and co. do not get their stuff together, they will spend the rest of the season playing catchup with the teams above the relegation zone.
Betting tip
Brighton have been impressive despite the results not going their way whilst Burnley have on the other hand looked downright torrid which is why i will be backing a Brighton win at 1.90 with Betway.
