Bayern and Barça to trade blows in neutral feast
The second round of group fixtures in the UEFA Champions League gets underway on Tuesday evening, with arguably the pick of the bunch coming at the Allianz Arena, pitting heavyweights Bayern Munich and Barcelona against each other. Domestically, things continue not to go completely the way of the hosts, and they'll be taking on a side that have impressed on the field amidst the financial chaos off it. Read our preview here:
Kimm wild
FC Hollywood could only share the spoils in a 2-2 draw, which marked their third Bundesliga tie in a row. However, they'll be hoping for more of the same on the bigger stage, having dispatched Inter on their own turf relatively comfortably. Kingsley Coman won't feature, so expect Julian Nagelsmann to shift raumdeuter Thomas Müller out to the right to accommodate Jamal Musiala through the middle. That is likely to be the only change of personnel, and what will be more intriguing is how Joshua Kimmich's pivot role deviates, if at all, to counter the threats possessed by the opponents in midfield breaking the lines at speed. Musiala could be called upon to operate deeper without the ball to intercept early on.
Old Lewa's the best
Another big talking point will obviously be the return to Bavaria of Robert Lewandowski. The Polish superstar spent a very productive eight years with the perennial German champions up until the summer transfer window, and his goal output at the age of 34 shows no signs whatsoever of slowing down. In blaugrana, he has racked up nine goals in six total appearances, including a hat-trick against Viktoria Plzeň in the first pool game. A deep familiarity with how the hosts operate on a collective and individual level tactically could only assist him further. Elsewhere, Xavi can perm from a complete roster. That could translate to Raphinha coming in on the right for his European debut for the Spanish giants.
