Bayern too hot to handle with title in their grasp
Bayern Munich take on Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker on Saturday evening.
Victory for Bayern will confirm the league title, which due to their incredible goal difference is already wrapped up realistically, but it is a chance for them to win the Bundesliga in style under Julian Nagelsmann.
The Bavarians are still trying to make amends for their embarrassing Champions League semi final exit to Villarreal and could gloss over that disappointing result with a convincing win to seal the title.
Dortmund are sitting pretty in second place under Marco Rose, but are still a million miles away from seriously competing for a league title.
Process
Bayern have created a frankly ridiculous 2.85 expected goals (xG) for this season, it is no wonder they have run away with the league title again and Dortmund have not been the most watertight either.
It has been a 17 teams plus one division or arguably 16 plus two with SpVgg Greuther Fürth struggling so much at the foot of the table.
Dortmund are a lot further off the hosts than just one position in the table may suggest.
Bayern also have the best defensive process in the league, conceding 1.02 xGA per game, alluding as to why it has been such a high scoring division this season.
Dortmund have been allowing 1.38 xGA per game and will have their work cut out avoiding a hammering here.
BVB come into the game on good form though, nonetheless, having beaten Wolfsburg 6-1 in their last match.
Goals?
Certainly part of my angle, Dortmund have the firepower to trade blows with Bayern up to a point.
Bayern have scored in nine of ten.
Bayern have conceded in six of ten.
Bayern have seen both teams score in five of ten.
Bayern have seen over 2.5 goals in four of ten.
Dortmund have scored in all of their last 29.
Dortmund have conceded in six of ten.
Dortmund have seen both teams score in six of ten.
Dortmund have seen over 2.5 goals in five of ten.
Combining an outright play with a goals angle seems to be the best way to build a backable price at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern and goals has been a sensible angle for a few seasons now and they could be fireworks to clinch the title.
