Saturday Night entertainment sorted

It is De Klassiker this Saturday evening, hold onto your hats because these two are defensively porous and electric in attack. Robert Lewandowski is below 1.50 to score at anytime, the bookies are expecting a goal fest, myself not so much but there is value for sure in getting onside the best team on the planet. The Bavarians are in need of a victory with Julien Nagelsmann’s RB Leipzig putting the pressure just two points behind in second, and with Borussia Dortmund’s midweek DFB Pokal exertion away to Borussia Monchengladbach, they should be fresher. It is a big price on Bayern for me.

Process

Bayern have a squad of big game players, which is great, but especially in the big games. They have put in a fair few sub par performances this term and in that are actually away off the top in terms of expected goals. They rank third, but in attack, they have no close opponents, Bayern have scored 67 goals from 51.4 expected leading the way comfortably for both statistics. However they have let themselves down at the back, letting 32 from 28.7 expected, sitting in sixth and fifth respectively.

Dortmund on the other hand have been underperformers but Edin Terzic has started to turn a corner at the helm, with the squad possibly buoyant by the announcement that Gladbach’s Marco Rose will be taking on the mantle from next season. Dortmund have the second best attack in the division but are not as frightening as Hansi Flick’s men. BVB have scored 48 goals from 45.4 and let in 31 from 26.6, Roman Burki has a little to answer for in terms of the defensive underperformance but the offensive prowess stands them in good stead to battle back domestically to earn Champions League qualification. They cut the gap to three points at the weekend, capitalising on Eintracht Frankfurt’s surprise loss at Werder Bremen.

Goals?

I think there will be yes, but there is no value. Too short and Bayern are due a good defensive showing.

  • Bayern have scored in 10 of 10, and their last 57 on the bounce.
  • Bayern have conceded in five of 10, and four of five.
  • Bayern have seen both teams score in five of 10, but in all of their last four.
  • Bayern have seen over 2.5 goals in six of 10, but also four of four.
  • Dortmund have scored in 10 of 10, and their last 31 on the bounce.
  • Dortmund have conceded in eight of 10.
  • Dortmund have seen both teams score in eight of 10.
  • Dortmund have seen over 2.5 goals in nine of 10.

This will be great viewing, but Bayern are the pick for sure.
