End to end stuff expected between Atalanta and PSG

The Champions League has thrown up some mouthwatering match-ups and Atalanta vs Paris Saint Germain is certainly one of them. Can the Italians cause an upset on home soil? Have a read of our preview here:

One of the best in Europe

Atalanta have been a joy to watch this season and in terms of the style of football they play, there is little doubt they are the best team in Italy this season.

They lack the high-end talent that helped Juventus win the Scudetto but with another season of Champions League football secured, it is likely La Dea will be able to keep hold of their best players.

If that turns out to be the case then there is an argument they will be able to push any club next year for the domestic title. As for this season’s Champions League, Atalanta have been brilliant.

They ripped apart Valencia in the last round, scoring eight past them over the two legs including a 4-1 thrashing at the San Siro.

It would be wonderful to see the Italian side go deep and beat a free-spending PSG, but they will have their work cut out. Don’t expect this one to be without goals, however, with both clubs combining for 173 goals in the league.

PSG will need to shake off the rust

PSG may have walked the Ligue 1 season before COVID brought it to an impromptu end, but they will be expected to shake off the rust and continue where they left off against Atalanta.

The way they defeated Borussia Dortmund was extremely impressive and it just shows the world that this PSG side could be the one to finally get over their Champions League hoodoo.

Kylian Mbappe is expected to miss the match, a huge loss for the French champions. This certainly gives Gasperini’s side an advantage but PSG can still call upon Neymar, Mauro Icardi and Angel Di Maria to name but three.

Thomas Tuchel is a good coach and will have been preparing his side to face a very attack-minded Atalanta outfit.

It should be a cracker so buckle in and enjoy.
