low-scoring affair at the Emirates?
Arsenal welcome Wolverhampton to the Emirates on Sunday in an important bout between two sides lingering around the middle of the table. Both teams have slightly underperformed thus far and are in need of a win in order to thrust themselves up the table, will either of them seize the chance or will it end in a stalemate?
Arsenal
The Gunners are coming off the back of a very fortunate draw at Leeds last weekend after Pepe was unnecessarily sent off in 51st minute. Leeds were without a doubt the better side and both could have and should have won, however, some last-gasp defending saved Arsenal from yet another disappointing defeat.
Finding a balance
Arteta's men have, for the most part, been defensively sound this season having only conceded 10 goals in their 9 outings, joint second best in the league. But, and it's a big but, Arsenal are just not functioning on the other side of the pitch, which can be seen in the fact that they have only managed to score 9(!) times despite having access to all offensive players.
It is obvious Arsenal are still looking for balance between their defence and attack but when facing off against an opponent of Wolverhamptons calibre, their defensive astuteness is a welcome attribute.
Wolverhampton
Wolves have been having quite a decent season so far and can be found at 9th place with 14 points, only 4 points behind Leicester and the last Champions League spot (4th).
Still finding their scoring boots
Nuno's men have had a nearly identical season as Sunday's opponents with the only difference being Wolves having managed an extra draw compared to Arsenal's defeat. Whats more is that both teams have the same goal difference of 9-10 indicating that they have their troubles going forward but are, as Arsenal, joint second in the league for least goals conceded.
Wolverhampton are very hard to break down which is a definite positive when going up against a dysfunctional Arsenal attack, however, their troubles going forward will be an issue against a strong Gunners defence.
Betting tip
Both teams are good defensively but poor going forward which is why i will be backing Under 2.5 goals at 1.65 with Betway.
