Haller to prove the difference in exciting 2nd leg
Ajax and Benfica go into their second leg clash in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League at the Johan Cruijff ArenA on an even keel, having drawn the first fixture 2-2 in Portugal. The Dutch title holders have been far more defensively susceptible in recent games than their earlier season form, but still have a matchwinner in the form of on-fire striker Sébastien Haller. Emperor Antony
Erik ten Hag's side have scraped a pair of 3-2 victories in the Eredivisie over Cambuur and RKC Waalwijk, keeping their hopes of a successful defence of their Eredivisie crown on track in the process. André Onana, who only recently came back from a 12-month ban after testing positive for a banned substance, has not covered himself in glory between the sticks whilst filling in for Remko Pasveer. Nevertheless, he'll be selected on Tuesday evening, and given recent jitters, the onus will be on Brazilian winger Antony to pull the strings on the right flank in order to provide Haller with the chances.
Darwin's evolution
As Águias have their own potent forward in the guise of Darwin Núñez. The 22 year old Uruguayan has hit 20 in the Liga NOS, allying an eye for goal from distance with a propensity to go on the dribble. Caretaker head coach Nélson Veríssimo won't spring any surprises with his selection or team shape, entrusting that the likes of Núñez and partner Gonçalo Ramos will press from the front in the tried-and-tested 4-4-2. Nicolás Otamendi should return at the heart of the backline, and his experience of big matches will be sought in order to keep the hosts as quiet as possible.
Betting tip
It promises to be a very entertaining match full of drama in Amsterdam, and given Sébastien Haller's ridiculous record in the competition, odds of 5.40 for him to score at least a brace with Casumo should be gobbled up.
