Juve to conquer AC Milan in Coppa
AC Milan host Juventus in the Coppa Italia semi-final. Can the Rossoneri keep their season alive with hopes of bagging some silverware? Have a read of our preview here:
AC Milan remain mediocre
Milan are sitting ninth in Serie A and have been well below par again this season. The players they have should probably be doing better but they simply have not had enough good performances from their key men.
Krzysztof Piatek has only netted four times in the league this season for the club which just highlights the problems they have faced but it is the lack of creativity that has really hampered them.
No AC Milan players has more than two assists this season in Serie A really highlighting a lack of supply to their forwards.
The Coppa Italia is probably their only opportunity to get a trophy this season and they will need to beat a Juve side well accustomed to winning silverware.
An easy victory over SPAL in the Round of 16 was followed up by a 4-2 thriller (AET) against Torino in which the Rossoneri looked as though they were heading out until a stoppage-time equaliser from Hakan Calhanoglu forced the extra period.
They eventually came through that trial but will find their next opponent from Turin another level up on Toro.
Juventus showing their class
Juve are a side that just know how to win. Their path in this competition this season has been made to look all too easy.
In the Round of 16, they trashed Udinese 4-0, a game in which a Paulo Dybala brace and goals from Gonzalo Higuain and Douglas Costa eased them through to what look liked a far more difficult game against AS Roma.
This proved not to be the case. Juve shot into a three-goal lead by half-time in Turin giving the Giallorossi no chance of coming back into it.
Cristiano Ronaldobagged the first before Rodrigo Bentancur and Leo Bonucci put the match out of sight.
It is hard to know how seriously Juventus will take the semi-final but looking at the previous rounds and the strength they can call upon, you’d expect them to name a team more than good enough to progress.
