Rangers to cut gap at top with win at Pittodrie

Old rivals Aberdeen and Glasgow Rangers will contest the sole game in the SPFL on Tuesday night at Pittodrie. The hosts are third in the standings, but are already 19 points off pacesetters Celtic after just 16 matches, having lost to the leaders last week. Meanwhile, new Bears boss Michael Beale won his first game in charge of the blue half of the city 3-2 over Hibernian, and his charges will have had two days' greater rest and recuperation. Read our preview here:

Agent Coulson

Having set up his side to snuff out the Hoops, Jim Goodwin's Dons instead lost by a single goal in the 87th minute, leading to some frustration from fans that the defensive tactics hadn't worked, nor did the strike leave them with much time to change things up. How different the approach is likely to be against Rangers remains to be seen. The emphasis and onus will be on the wing-backs to provide the width and creativity in a 3-4-1-2. On the left, Hayden Coulson is adept at any point on the flank, and he'll doubtlessly have his hands full nullifying the threat of James Tavernier. The 24 year old could opt for early balls to the front pairing of Bojan Miovski and Duk. The young duo from North Macedonia and Cape Verde respectively have hit 17 goals in the league between them.

Devine punishment

On the opposite wing, 19 year old Adam Devine was handed only his third top tier start last Thursday, and, with eight players in the large squad all doubts for Tuesday's game, he is set to have another opportunity to impress. He inked a deal to stay at Ibrox until at least 2025 back in October and is now getting some meaningful minutes under the new head coach. Elsewhere, Alfredo Morelos should get another 90 minutes after scoring in the previous game. He'll be ably supported by hot prospect Malik Tillman through the middle. The attacking midfielder has four caps for the USMNT at 20, though wasn't included in the World Cup roster. He'll be aiming to right that wrong in time for the one jointly hosted by his chosen nation in 2026, and if he keeps providing goals as he did with the two assists against Hibs, he'll certainly be considered once more.

Betting tip

Parimatch have odds of 7.50 for a 2-1 away win to maintain Rangers' faint title hopes and Beale's 100% start in the hostseat.
