Vitebsk to give champions Dinamo Brest a hard game
Vitebsk have been in good form so far in the Belarusian Premier League. They host champions Dinamo Brest on Saturday. Can they home side continue their good run? Have a read of our preview here:
Viting back
Vitebsk have been doing pretty well so far in the Belarusian top-flight. They have lost only once in their opening four matches and last weekend bagged a hard-earned point from a trip to Slutsk.
They opening the scoring with a really well-worked team goal, finished off by Ion Nicolaescu and set up superbly by Anton Matveenko. Both these men played well but the star performer had to be left-back Pavel Nazarenko who was extremely impressive on the flank both going forward and defensively too.
Matveenko is the sides key creator. His assist last weekend will have come as no surprise with the player already completing three key passes and enjoying plenty of the ball this season.
Defensively they have also been solid, keeping two clean-sheets and conceding just three goals in four matches so far.
Dinamo Brest will be their toughest opponent of the campaign up to this point. It will prove a real test of Vitebsk’s metal and will also be only their second home game of the season having won the season opener against Gorodeya.
Sergey Yasinsky will be pleased with how his players have done in the opening few rounds, but this will be an interesting test against the Premier League champions.
Dinamo Brest gearing up for a title defence
Dinamo Brest finally clicked into gear last weekend when they took on inform Isloch and beat them fairly comfortably by a score of 3-1.
They slipped behind in the first half but the game changed when Gaby kiki equalised two minutes into stoppage time at the end of the first 45.
There are often moments in football matches that can swing the momentum from one side to the other and that was certainly the case with Kiki's goal.
The second half went the way many would have expected as the current champions clicked into gear and added two more goals from Artem Milevskiy and Pavel Savitskiy.
It will be interesting to see if they can now go on the kind of run that epitomised their season last year, beating Isloch can certainly do them no harm.
