Spurs to have a crack at RB Leipzig
Spurs have not exactly torn up the Premier League this season but they are still fighting in the Champions League. Can they get any change out of the impressive RB Leipzig? Have a read of our preview here:
Enjoying life in Europe, well sort of
Tottenham’s European adventure has, like their Premier League campaign, been a bit mixed this season.
Jose Mourinho has made them more solid, but the Portuguese manager has had to deal with the loss of key man and captain Harry Kane.
Their performances against German opposition, namely Bayern Munich, have left a lot to be desired with an embarrassing 7-2 defeat at home followed up by a 3-1 defeat at the Allianz Arena.
They will have to be more resolute at the back if they are to get the better of RB Leipzig, who themselves drew 0-0 with Bayern just last week in a clash at the top of the Bundesliga.
It is hard to have faith in Spurs this season, but they have a good attack with Son Heung-min their key man heading into Wednesday night’s big clash.
That winning feeling
RB Leipzig saw their Bundesliga challenge stutter somewhat over the past few weeks, but getting a draw against Bayern and then smashing three past Werder Bremen has seen them bounce back from a tricky spell of four without a win in all competitions.
Their manager, Julian Nagelsmann, is one of the hottest coaching prospects in Europe. He has turned this team into a powerhouse in Germany and playing attractive football has helped him garner this reputation.
It is strange to think that this side is only a decade old after Red Bull negotiated to invest in German football through the Leipzig club. Whether or not you agree with this kind of investment through a global brand, you cannot argue that they haven’t done things the right way by both the fans and the city.
The team play in a state-of-the-art arena and the fans get to enjoy seeing some of the best football the Bundesliga has to offer. They even had to work their way up through the leagues unlike English sides such as MK Dons.
They will be an attacking force and should be able to cause Spurs a lot of problems. Expect a very open game.
