Soligorsk host second placed Isloch Minsk
Shakhtyor Soligorsk welcome the visit of second placed Isloch Minsk this Sunday evening, they continue to resurrect their season after a desperately poor opening few matches. Soligorsk sit in 11th and pulled off their best scalp of the season last weekend, taking all three points with a 2-0 win away to reigning champions Dinamo Brest. Soligorsk are strong favourites given they finished third in the division last season, however Isloch will be confident having won their last two matches albeit at home. The hosts also did the double over Isloch in the 2019 season, 1-0 home and away.
Last time out
After posting some impressive statistics behind very disappointing results, Shakhtyor have begun to turn their season around with successive wins over Dinamo Brest. The first and more important one came on their travels, a resolute defensive performance got them over the line and a first half own goal added to by Vitali Lisakovich was enough to grant them three points and they leapfrogged Brest in the process.
Isloch made it two in two, with a comfortable 2-0 at home to a tricky Vitebsk side who have started the season brightly. The week before they further derailed Slavia Mozyr’s positive start the season 2-1 thanks to an excellent second half display. Vitebsk did test Isloch however they were always in control, having 59% possession and winning the shot count 9 to 6.
One to watch
22-year-old striker Vitali Lisakovich comes into this match as the in-form player having notched thrice in his last two outings, both against Dinamo Brest. He added a second half brace in a mad period of 15 minutes where Soligorsk scored four times to put them within a goal of the Belarusian Cup final in midweek. However, 4-2 it ended and what might have been an incredible comeback was in vain, though the win with the squad belief and momentum to climb the league, with them still wallowing in 11th place.
Isloch Minsk are in somewhat of a false position themselves and with the form regardless of results Soligorsk have shown creatively in recent weeks, they are the best bet to get the win in this one.
