Scrapping at the wrong end of the table
Relegation avoiding Sassuolo face off against rock-bottom Chievo at the Mapei Stadium. Can the Neroverdi secure a much needed win and avoid the relegation scrap or will Chievo get away with whats left of their pride intact?
Sassuolo
What started off as extremely promising turned into absolute mediocracy. After winning the first 5 out of 7 games ( a draw and a loss included, the loss obviously coming against Juventus) things were looking very positive for the green and blacks who even had midfielder Stefano Sensi called up to the Italian national squad but the honeymoon period abruptly ended with back to back losses against Milan and Napoli. What followed has been a drastic dip in form with 3 wins, 10 draws and 8 losses since then. Worth mentioning is that even if they have not won a game in 8(!) attempts and everything looks all gloom and doom Sassuolo possess quality in their ranks with the likes of Stefano Sensi, Domenico Berardi and Khouma Babacar all capable of changing games. This brings me to the conclusion that they have too much quality for an underperforming Chievo side.
Notable absentees
Brignola, Adjapong and Marlon
Chievo
What a torrid season, absolute shambles. The team from Verona may have started the season with minus points but that has been no excuse for their repeatedly poor performances, making it practically impossible for them to avoid relegation. For goodness sake, they have 1 win all season, 1 WIN?! (11 draws and 17 losses) and are a mere formality away from playing in the Serie B next season. One could argue that they have drawn to top teams such as Inter and Napoli and are hard to break down but that argument falls flat when you notice that they have lost most of their games against teams on the wrong end of the Serie A table.
Notable absentees
Tomovic, Depaoli, Meggiorini, Schelotto and Seculin
Betting tip
We are looking at two sides in horrible form but i have to back Sassuolo in this one, if there is any game teams really should win, it would be the home fixture against Chievo. I will be backing a Sassuolo win at 33/50 with Bethard.
