Rukh Brest host Gorodeya for the first time
Two of the lowest scoring sides in the Belarusian Premier League go head-to-head this weekend with 2019 playoff winners Rukh Brest hosting sixth placed Gorodeya for the first time in their history. Brest have the least potent attacking contingent so far this campaign but also the joint strongest defence, having only scored and conceding two goals from six matches. Gorodeya have only managed three, however they all resulted in 1-0 victories, they are a narrow one point but six places above Rukh. Rukh Brest are odds on favourites despite their lack of experience in the division to which Gorodeya finished seventh in last term.
Last time out
The top two backlines played off against each other in Brest’s last outing, ending in a somewhat unsurprising goalless draw, though there were chances and Rukh would be happy to win the shot count 13 to 12, away to third placed Torpedo Zhodino. They really came on strong in the second period registering nine shots, albeit with seven flying off target. Still an encouraging positive to take from a game where they were comfortably underdogs.
Gorodeya’s three game win streak came to an end against 2019 runners up BATE Borisov, 2-0 in a match where they struggled to pose any real threat, only managing to get two shots off compared to Borisov’s eight. They were big underdogs however missed out on the chance to push up into the top three. Currently occupied by Slutsk, Isloch Minsk and Torpedo Zhodino.
One to watch
In a Rukh Brest side struggling for a creative flair, Gheorghe Andronic is a midfielder who is capable but yet to show his best from this Belarusian Premier League season. The 28-year-old attacking midfielder signed for Milsami Orhei in the off-season, he appearances 123 appearances for the club and has appeared nine times for the Moldova national team, getting on the scoresheet once. He has assisted one of the Brest’s two goals this term and definitely has a lot more to give to the newly promoted side.
With Gorodeya such underdogs in this match, their price is inviting given the form they were on before the BATE defeat, and with Rukh’s lack of experience in the division. Therefore, hedge your bets with a more risk-free market.

An agonising second half additional time equaliser for Rukh Brest stopped this coming through as a winner, 1-1 it ended, will feel like a loss with Gorodeya coming so close.
