Sweden will see it through
Sweden have made it to the round of 16 once again, and with Switzerland missing two key players, I think it’s time the Swedes took advantage of the momentum they’ve created and will see this one through.

The game against Mexico has to be considered as one of Sweden’s most impressive in years. Not only did their defence sit back and absorb pressure well, but the team was also able to push the Mexicans into squandering most of the chances they did manage to create.
But it wasn’t just the defence that impressed me about Sweden. They were also able to create some important chances themselves, even before going up 1-0.
Now against the Swiss Sweden have one of their main midfielders, Sebastian Larsson ruled out through suspension and it’s likely that Gustav Svensson or Oscar Hiljemark will take his place. Aside from that the Swedes are mostly likely to stick to their previous line up, and will rely on that continuity to get them through.
Sweden once again will create good chances against Mexico, but in all likelihood this one will probably be a much tighter affair. Switzerland shouldn’t be underestimated, especially considering they’ve only lost two competitive matches in three years.
Switzerland are dynamic and powerful in midfield, largely due to the combination of Shaqiri and Dzemaili, Xhaka and Behrami, who are all key players for them. A major positive for Sweden is that Switzerland will be missing right full back Schär as well as captain Lichtsteiner. I don’t doubt for one second that these are two key players who are missing for the Swiss, and it should make a difference for the Swedes.
A big plus for Sweden is knowing that Switzerland let in two against substandard opposition against Costa Rica. Given that, with their missing men at the back and the wave of positivity that Sweden are riding right now, I find it hard to see the Swedes losing. I still think it will be a tight match. That’s why I’m going to play for a draw in normal time for 1/1 (2.0) with Betway. If Sweden win the match in normal time the money is coming back to me.
