Goals galore in Rome?
Roma welcome Sassuolo to the classic Stadio Olimpico in Rome during matchday 3 of Italy's Serie A. Will both teams high-scoring trends continue or have they managed to curb the leakage during the international break?
Roma
The Giallorosi are yet to taste defeat but 2 points from as many games is not exactly the start new coach Paulo Fonseca was hoping for. The first game ended 3-3 after some very sloppy defending, a few missed chances at the end made it all the much worse.
The second game was none other than the Rome derby against bitter rivals Lazio and it was hands down one of the most fun games i have ever watched, Roma were in all honesty fortunate to come away from that game with a point at all but could have clinched it having hit the post/bar 3 times. Although, worth mentioning is that Lazio hit the post/bar 4 times.
What is blatantly obvious is that Roma have so far been competent going forward but have been absolutely diabolical when defending. They now face a Sassuolo side that have impressed a bunch and if Roma defend as they have done prior to this game they will be in trouble.
Sassuolo
The Neroverdi kicked off their season with a 2-1 defeat at Torino despite being the much better side but got their revenge in the game after when they picked apart a Sampdoria side with 4-1 in their home debut.
Sassuolo have some real talent in their ranks at the moment and are going to have a tough time keeping players like Domenico Berardi and Manuel Locatelli, who have both featured for the Italian national team in recent times, when the winter and summer transfer windows open again. But until that happens it is good times in the northern Italian province.
Despite the improvement and steps the Neroverdi have taken they had huge issues away from home last season where they only won 4 games and lost 9 and despite being better against Torino they still lost. Its a bad trend and one that can affect the teams psychology in a negative way, if they lose this one too i think they will have a hard time challenging for the Europa League spots.
Betting tip
Their is only one thing on my mind regarding which tip to go for and that is that i think this game will be a goals galore which is why i am backing Over 3.5 goals at 13/10 with Bethard.
