Real Sociedad face Barcelona in Cordoba this Wednesday evening with the prospect of the Spanish Super Cup final looming large for Imanol Alguacil’s men. Ronald Koeman’s Barcelona have been under fire since the start of season, seeing a flurry of poor results follow their calamitous end to the 2019/20 campaign. Coming in for plenty of criticism as a result, the World Cup winner will be hoping to build on his performance against Granada to kick on in the Super Cup.

Sociedad have been struggling lately, they have failed to beat Osasuna, lost to Levante and Barca themselves in their last six, falling away from what looked like a surprise title push. Now their focus will be firmly back on qualifying for the Champions League, they are inferior to Barcelona in both boxes. Each team has posted outstanding underlying numbers with Barca top of the expected goals table and Sociedad close in second, it could be a great match for the neutral.
