Die Bullen and Der FCB bull it out in the final
Both teams finished the season on a high with Bayern securing yet another Bundesliga title making it 7 in a row and Leipzig finishing 3rd meaning another season of Champions League football. Which of the two will take home the last piece of silverware up for grabs in Germany?
Leipzig
Die Roten Bullen had a stellar ending to the season bar their last game away to Bremen but prior to that hiccup Leipzig had not lost in 15 outings with 10 of those ending in victories.
Among those games was a draw against Saturday's opposition (Bayern if you can't put 2 and 2 together) and what a game it was, both teams had plenty of opportunities but somehow managed to spurn every single one. The game was not only fun to watch but was also a great indicator that Leipzig are not a team to be trifled with.
Leipzig's insanely high odds are not really justified and there are a few reasons as to why that is. For starters, Rangnick's men have conceded the least amount of goals this season, 29 to be precise compared to Bayern's 32. Another aspect as to why Leipzig were not contenders at the end of the season had a lot to due with injury trouble halfway through but with basically everyone fit Leipzig are fit for fight.
Notable absentees
-
Bayern Munich
Der FCB were near-flawless during the second half of the campaign winning 13 of their last 17, drawing 3 and losing 1. This magnificent run of form meant that they not only caught up to Dortmund after having trailed the whole season but also surpassed them meaning that they secured their 7th straight Bundesliga title.
Niko Kovac's men ended the season with an absolutely superior goal difference of 56 goals, scoring 88 (highest in the league) and conceding 32. To put that into perspective, Dortmund finished second 2 points behind Bayern and had a goal difference of 37 which is definitely no easy feat.
Bayern will be desperate to win this years edition of the DFB Pokal for a couple of reasons. The first of which being that they have not won the Cup in 2 seasons, unacceptable by their standards and the second being that this will be heroes Robben and Ribery's last game in the Die Roten shirts. Always fun when a surplus of emotions are involved.
Notable absentees
Goretzka and Ulreich.
Betting tip
I've seen a lot of different tipsters back Leipzig in this one but i honestly cannot see past Bayerns brilliance despite Leipzig's strong defence, however, great value can be found in the goals market which is why i will be backing under 2.5 goals at 13/10 with Bethard.
