Le Classique
Paris Saint-Germain host Olympique de Marseille in the seasons first Le Classique, otherwise known as Derby de France. PSG are currently top dog and have won this fixture the 4 times in a row which begs the question, can Marseille turn it around or will it stay a lopsided affair?
Paris Saint-Germain
Les Parisiens have been astounding thus far amassing 8 wins and 2 losses in Ligue 1 and have already built up a 5 point cushion down to second (Nantes on 19 points) with a game in hand too.
Rampant PSG
Tuchel's men have not only impressed domestically but have proved their worth in the Champions League as well after emerging victorious from 3 wins out of 3 possible and a superior goal difference of 9-0(!). They swatted aside Real Madrid 3-0 at home, followed that up with a strong 1-0 win against Galatasaray in Turkey and most recently saw off Club Brugge with an emphatic 5-0 win.
Welcome back
What's more is that they are finally overcoming their mini injury crisis and could welcome back Mbappé last weekend with the young frenchman scoring 4 goals and providing 2 assists in 2 games.
PSG have dominated this fixture in recent years and given their strong start to this season i do not see that changing any time soon.
Marseille
André Villas-Boas has had a mixed start to life in the sunnier part of France consisting of 4 victories, 4 draws and 2 defeats leaving them at a pretty decent 4th place prior to this round.
Undefeated run
Les Olympiens lost their opener to 3rd place Reims but quickly found their feet and went undefeated for 7 games before a lowly 3-1 defeat at Amiens pulled them back to reality.
Injury issues
Their goal difference of 12-11 is bang average but can be explained by the absence of star-players Dimitri Payet and Florian Thauvin. Without Thauvin the goals seemed to have dried up a bit with the exception of newcomer Dario Benedetto being the only one with over 2 goals to his name. Long story short, underwhelming as a whole.
The lack of firepower is problematic at best when comparing to a squad of PSG's quality and as Villas-Boas said in a recent conference "we will travel there and dream".
Betting tip
PSG have dominated the fixture in recent times and i see this continuing which is why i will be backing PSG to win and over 2.5 goals at 13/25 with Bethard.
