The Atlas Lions vs the Squirrels
Morocco and Benin face off in the first round of 16 game during this years Africa Cup of Nations at the Al-Salam Stadium in Egypt. Both teams qualified without losing a game but one went through with 3 wins and the other with 3 draws, read on to find out more!
Morocco
One of the big title favourites Morocco have been rock-solid thus far winning all 3 of their group games with the same scoreline, 1-0. The fact that they were drawn into a strong group consisting of the Ivory Coast, South Africa and Namibia makes it all the more impressive.
Despite strong displays i do believe that Morocco have an extra gear or two left until they really hit their stride, they have a seriously talented squad including the likes of Ziyech, Belhanda, Amrabat and a handful of other talents which leaves me thinking that they can go all the way.
Although they have a talented front-line it is their defence that has been the most impressive and as the old saying goes "offence wins games, defence wins championships". It could be Morocco's year.
Benin
Benin were fortunate enough to end up as one of the best 3rd placed teams during the group stage which granted them qualification to the next round despite not winning a game.
However, not losing to Ghana, Cameroon and Guinea-bissau is quite the feat and they should be feeling very happy with themselves. Their 2-2 against Ghana was particularly impressive whilst their 0-0 against Cameroon was also impressive but also quite lucky.
They now face their 3rd "big hitter" of the tournament and will need to put on another stellar defensive display if they are to have any chance of advancing to the quarter finals.
Betting tip
I believe that Morocco is a step too high for Benin which is why i will be backing a Morocco win at 11/20 with Unibet.
Another bet with great value is Morocco to win and both teams to score no at 1/1.
